best URBAN stroller that can do it all...???

i live downtown vancouver BC, and i don't have a car.  currently i have the baby jogger city elite and i've just put it up for sale, cuz its waaay too huge for public transit and maneuvering around the city. so i'm looking for something much smaller and lighter to be my one and only stroller.

i'm considering an umbrella/lightweight stroller such as the uppababy g-luxe (suggestions welcome), however, i'm afraid that i've been spoiled by the super smooth all-terrain ride of my luxury stroller.  i don't have any experience with umbrella strollers and i'm just not sure that it will provide enough shock absorption, given what i'm used to.

my next option would perhaps be the Mountain Buggy Swift or the Baby Jogger City Mini GT.  essentially, these are just a much smaller version of what i already have. i love the flat recline of these strollers and i especially love the smooth ride. though of course they are heavier and larger than the umbrella style.

URBAN MAMAS...what do you recommend?!?! keep in mind, it is not necessary for me to fold my stroller on the bus or train as it may be in a GIANT city, so perhaps i could get by with a mid-size stroller such as the MB Swift....anything will be an improvement from the HUGE beast i have now!  i run errands and maneuver around the city most days, but i also live right on the ocean so i go for leisurely walks quite a bit as well.

i guess my big question is: does a lightweight stroller REALLY provide sufficient comfort, a smooth ride, easy handling, and does it stand up to the beating we put them through with city life, rugged sidewalks, long days, etc??? would they also be comfortable for leisurely walks?  can they really do it all??

any thoughts and product recommendations are gladly welcomed. thanks!

  • I suggest looking at the cybex onyx stroller, I really liked it; it can be used as a travel system, and can recline enough to use from birth.

i ended up with britax b agile, I live in suburbs. Have taken it into the city, but not on t

  • The Swift maybe if you need the all terrain wheels. If not, the Bugaboo Bee sounds like it could work for you.  City dwellers love it but it's not going to be great on very uneven sidewalks.  It's got great suspension and the push is fantastic t
