Small dots from crying

I took my DD to the doctor today. The doctor had to clean wax out of her ears and she cried so hard she instantly developed tiny reddish-purplish dots around her eyes and a little down her cheek. The nurse referred to it as petechiae. She said it may go away but she wasn't so reassuring. Has anyone else's DD or DS  had this and if so does it go away? Thanks:).
