Sleep fighter!

We are sort of at a loss. Our LO is 9 months old and fights going to sleep. He hates being rocked, won't nurse to sleep, won't fall asleep just anywhere. We usually get him in Pjs, read some books, nurse him and put him down. Every single night and nap time he cries and screams and stands for atleast 15 to 30 min before falling asleep. He won't calm down unless we take him completely out of his room, and he usually starts crying before we even out him in the crib, like he's anticipating it.

Once asleep he doesn't STTN though which is great. Naps are usually 30 to 60 min.

ANY suggestions would be amazing, we have no idea what to do and wish we were able to put him down for a nap when we are at friends or families houses, or out at the beach, etc.
