Anyone have any good family photographer recs that don't charge an arm and a leg?! I was spoiled back home, as I had 2 photographer friends who never charged me full price. Now that I see actual rates, my H would have a heart attack and veto cake smashing pictures for my daughter's 1st birthday in June!

Not sure what she charges (same situation as you had, she's a good friend) but I *know* she is much less than most.
I don't have any actual experience yet, but I just did a ton of research for first year packages. I ended up choosing Sarah Nicole Photography. My husband wants lots of digital prints, so I found her rates to be more reasonable than most for what we are looking for. She might be a little far north for you though - she's located in Erie.
I also considered Melissa Yocum, but she's located in Castle Rock which was just too far south for me. She offers packages which are a mix of digital and physical prints, and was also more reasonably priced than most of the photographers I contacted.
We used Kristie Chadwick and were very happy. Her sitting fee was $125, I will say I thought the prints were a little expensive though. She has the prices listed on her site.

Great prices, Nicole is a mother of 2 boys. She's awesome. She did my best friend's maternity, wedding, and family pictures. Same for my friend's brother.
