Natural Birth

Placenta Encapsulation

I'm all for natural birth and planned a natural HynoBabies birth with DS but things didn't go as planned so I ended up with a c-section, hence the siggy badge. I felt that needed clarification for posting on this board.

Anyway, I'm not pregnant but do plan to have a second LO in the future and am interested in placenta encapsulation. I didn't do it with DS and had no plans to but I suffered from mild "baby blues" and would like to dodge that if possible.

I'm looking into a vbac but that will likely not be possible in the area I live now, very rural, I can almost gurantee I would have to tell any OB around here what vbac stands for.

So, has anyone done placenta encapsulation after a c-section? Anyone done it themselves? I'm sure you can imagine the difficulty of finding someone in such a rural area with any experience on this topic. Please share your stories and resources with me as I begin my research.

There are lots of mamas on the board who have DIYed.  After a c/s the most important thing is reminding staff that you want to take the placenta with you.  It needs to leave the OR with you, and you need to have someone take it home and put it i

it's fine to encapsulate after an epidural.  It processes through your placenta fairly quickly.
  • Thanks for responding! I would love to have a natural vbac but where I am it just won't happen. We're about 3 hours from the nearest city with any doctors willing to even discuss vbac. We have discussed moving to the Denver/Boulder area and if that happen
