Semi-newbie with a question!

Hello!

I used to be around on TK but it's been a while, I've done been married, and now it's time to focus on other things. So I ended up making a new account to keep things simple.

So...I'm 27, and this will be my first baby (although not, sadly, my first pregnancy). I only just got a positive result on my test today, but my period is about 15 days late, plus I've been feeling nauseous and super moody for a couple days now. I sorta had a feeling that I was pregnant even before the test, but seeing that little line show up still gave me belly-flops. hehe!

I have a couple of insurance issues I'm not sure how to resolve, and I was hoping someone might be able to either offer some advice, or point me in the right direction for said advice.

My husband and I currently do not have insurance. As soon as I got the results back on the test, I started looking at what my options are, and I have some questions.

One of the reasons this pregnancy is kind of 'complicated' is because I had to get a LEEP procedure done about six weeks ago. In the process of doing that my IUD had to be removed, and I'm assuming we must have conceived almost the day that my gynecologist said it was safe to have sex again. My question is....are insurance companies going to consider that a 'pre-existing condition' and use it as an excuse not to cover my pregnancy and related tests? :/

For that matter, is pregnancy considered a pre-existing condition?

It seems like it's cheaper (and results in better service) for my husband and I to get separate insurance plans. I would get a more comprehensive plan, while his would cover a little less and maybe have a higher deductible. Does this seem like a smart idea?

  • That's a good idea. It worked out for my sister-in-law.

It seems very silly that in a nation where everyone is so nasty about state-provided insurance, the only viable option for a pregnant woman who doesn't al

  • I have a private insurance plan (my fianc? has his own business and I work for him) and I had to have a certain plan that involved pregnancy for I think it was 6 months before I could conceive. I think maybe this is something you should've looked into bef

  • I appreciate the advice. According to the three main insurance companies that I talked to today, pregnancy is indeed still considered a pre-existing condition. They also pointed me towards Medicaid, so that's what I'm goin
