My son weighed 7 12 when he was born. That was pretty big for what we were expecting (and a lot bigger than the doctor thought). He had chubby cheeks from the day he was born, and is a bigger baby (he falls in the 50th percentile every time, so he's not actually bigger than most babies; it just looks like it).
Lately, I have been getting comments from people that he is BIG. They don't say it to be mean, but it still hurts my feelings. I mean, I get that babies are "supposed" to be cute and chubby, but you don't go up to a 12 year old's mom and tell her that her child is "sooo chubby wubby" do you? I didn't think so.
I don't really say anything to the people who say things except for "Yeah, he was bigger than we all expected" or something like that. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else (who has a "bigger" baby) is tired of hearing how chubby or big or fat your baby is.
Re: For those of you with not-tiny babies...
I get tired of hearing it as well. I have perfect strangers coming up to me in stores and telling me how big my baby is. Honestly, though, she is only slightly above average in weight and is still wearing 3-6 months clothes. She's just a solid baby. I
Ethan was 6 lbs 13 oz when he was born and always in the 25th percentile for height and weight until he was 4 months old. We went from hearing "he's so tiny" (he really was, he wore NB clothes until he was 2 months old) to now hearing, "he's so big"! (

It doesn't bother me. DS is 95th percentile for height and 85th percentile for weight. At his 4m appt, he was pretty much the size of a 6m old. When people say he's "big," I just take that as a compliment.

This bugs me too and I do have a tiny baby. In the 1%, just a smidge above 11 pounds at 5 months. People always comment on how big she looks, and I have to stare at them. Really people? Compared to her peers, she is tiny.&n

My son is 6 months and is around the 90th percentiles. I just tell him- yep! he is a growing boy who is strong and healthy! For me, I have decided to be proud of it because he IS strong and healthy. So, I guess what I am trying to say is that you can b
Stella is 50th percentile too but shes got cheeks you could store a few walnuts in lol!
People comment that shes roly poly and has chunk monkey thighs but thats how babies should be so I could care less.
FWIW my eldest daughter was 98
Yep.
Really? My baby is in the 95th percentile, so we get those comments a lot, but they don't bother me. I feel a little proud, actually. When he was born, he was 6 lbs 4 oz. We really struggled with BFing initially, but with a lot of hard work, he started
