I chose SS. We never put one in because I'm afraid he'll figure out he can climb on it...he'd find some way to get himself out of the crib. Plus, I've got the bumper tied around the top bedrails since he's been chewing on the wood.
I voted SS* because we don't use them, but I am not worried about suffocation anymore. I was worried about it at first, but now I'm worried PJ would use them to try to climb out of his crib, lol.

I used nothing to begin with, a breathable when she started getting limbs stuck, and now have the traditional padded one since she's older and can move herself around as needed (the regular one has been in since about 8 months or so).
After 2+ years and multiple treatment cycles, including an IVF vacation in Costa Rica/Panama, IVF #2 brought us our miracle baby!
