Baby Showers

Gift question..WWYD?

My cousin lives in Seattle but her baby shower is in NY where we grew up and all our family still lives.  I bought her the bouncy chair she registered for and had it delivered to her house in Seattle.  The question is, do I get her another small gift to open at the shower?  Just a card at the shower?

What would you do?

Re: Gift question..WWYD?

  • I might buy an outfit, or bath product if the chair didn't tap you out. But, I also hate arriving to showers with nothing in hand, even if the guest of honor know better. Plus, when she's opening the small gift, it gives her an opportunity to me

  • My shower was the same situation. Most of the guests who shipped bigger items also got me something small to open at the shower, like inexpensive clothes or a book. I wasn't expecting that, but it was really appreciated! A few of the guests also just gave

  • No, you don't need to give another gift. Just depends if you're cool w/ not having anything for her to open.

And for the record, I would be cool w/ that.  No one pays attention to who brought a gift/ who didn't, etc.  Trust me.  Or

  • I would probably bring an outfit or two for the MTB to open up.  I would just feel funny coming to a shower empty-handed (even though you already sent the gift ahead of time).

Others might feel differently, I realize.

  • I agree with PPs- I don't think you should feel obligated at all to buy another gift, especially if you've reached your budget.  If you feel funny arriving empty handed, you could pick up a small board book, hooded towel, or footed sleeper for under

  • Although you should not feel obligated, I would bring a small token gift, and maybe include a picture of the bouncy seat in the card. That way she has something to open and show, and you don't have to deal with the awkwardness of showing up to a shower e

  • I'm lurking, but my family shower was like this. Actually, all of the showers in my family have been like this except for the one cousin that still lives nearby. We all just bring a card with a picture of the item we purchased in it. Some people bring
