Miscarriage Support Advice

Another one of my daycare parents had a miscarriage.  They had just told me a few weeks ago that they were expecting in October.  The other couple I hadn't known as long and this one I have been watching their son since he was 6 months old and he is almost 3.  I am so sad for them.

My question is...for those that have been through this...is there anything I can do?  I told them that I was sorry for their loss, and tried to be compassionate.  They took the day off to come to terms with what has happened, and I fully support them doing that.  I just want to know if there is anything that someone did for you or that you would have liked someone to do?

Everyone handles miscarriage differently. Be open to talk but don't be pushy. Maybe offer to watch thier son so they can have alone time (but also know they may want to be together as a family as my hubby and I did and this one person kept offering to the

Thank you for your response.  I just want to offer my support, but also didn't want to do anything that might upset them.

I agree with the meal idea.  I had a friend send me flowers which was sweet but then seeing them made me too sad, it was like after a funeral when there are flowers left.  For some reason it made me feel worse.  But a meal would have been g

I liked the acknowledgement of our loss but didn't really want to talk about it. I also got upset when my SIL, who had several CPs say, "I know you'll be pregnant again by the end of the year." Um, A) how do you know that and I'm still sad about los

Agree with PPs. Be available to talk about it but not pushy. Definitely like the idea of a meal or restaurant gift card. When a mom friend miscarried I made them a meal and got a little diversionary toy for the sibling. It sucks no matter what and everyon

I agree with what everyone else has already said.  Even just a thoughtful card would have been appreciated when I was grieving (although maybe it would be hard to find an appropriate message, I'm not sure!).
