Cause it's slow and this is what I'm dealing with today:
Long story short, saturday night DH & I went out for a friends bday. Before we could even park the car a drunken AHole of All Aholes jumps out in front of the jeep and starts punching, kicking, body checking etc. There is about $1300 worth of damage (DH got an estimate yesterday) We have insurance and for vandalism it's a $100 ded. There was a police report made because the guy did this to 2 or 3 other cars after us and someone else called the cops. Drunken dumbAHole was arrested.
I called the insurance company to make the claim but I didn't have the incident report on me, they said no problem, call back with it. IF I "remember" to call back the insurance company will end up subrogating after this guy (also meaning I get my $100 back) IF I "forget" to call in the report number... The guy will probably just have to deal with drunken disorderly or whatever charges the cops took him on. (Not to mention the other vehicles he damaged) I pay $100 and insurance pays the rest.
On any other day I wouldn't really have a hesitation, of course make the guy pay for it. BUT I feel a very VERY small part in my heart for him because was at a funeral (of whom, I don't know) But was up at the bar drinking all day afterward. Part of me wants to press charges, go to court and just lecture him on what a total TOOL he was.
Re: Call it in or not? WWPD
I am with mostly everyone else. Call and get your money.

Just a little update... I came across a fun little site to show who got arrested in my city. Yeah, this DB was arrested in july for domestic violence. I TOTALLY called the insurance and reported him.
I really felt bad. Ya know, I get death is
Call! As a former insurance adjuster, it's not just about your $100 deductible.
The insurance company will go after him for the whole amount of the damage including your deductible. This is what keeps insurance prices down.
