Boy name help

DH and I are having trouble agreeing on a boy name. We prefer to have a strong sounding name, but we are having no luck agreeing on any. Here are the names we both like:

Noah Robert
Max Robert
Carter Robert
Aidan Robert

We both really like Max, but not any of the longer versions (Maxwell). And I just don't know about giving such a short name as Max. And we don't really care how popular a name is. My most favorite is Noah, but not sure if that is a very strong sounding name.

Re: Boy name help

  • Noah is lovely! Very strong as its a biblical name
  • My favorite would be Max. I don't think it has to stand for anything longer and more formal if that is not your style. Max is a great name, and it always reminds me of "Where the Wild Things Are". A sweet, mischievous young man, adorable!

  • I like Noah the best from your list.

  • I think Noah is a nice name. You don't have to use a longer name if you really like Max, although I do kind of like Maxwell.  Carter is just ok and I really don't like Aidan, but that's just me. I know it's a very popular name.

  • None of your FN options are "strong sounding" to me.

I like Robert the best from all of the name options.  Robert is strong sounding to me.  Noah, Carter and Aidenan are not masculine to me at all.  Noah just seems weak, Car

  • If I was going with the strongest sounding name, I'd pick Max.

Noah is definitely a soft-sounding name to me, but I like it. It's still very masculine. I'm not sure why being strong matters if it's your favorite.

I have a Max. We decided not to make it longer because the longer versions seemed so stuffy.   We love it!   It's easy for him to spell (he's two) and there are tons of books (outside of Max and Ruby) that use the name, so he really gets into

  • Noah Robert - My favorite. Noah would have been on my short list except it's too popular for me, personally.

Max Robert - Not a fan of nicknames as standalone names, and I know too many dogs named Max.

Carter Robert - Too trendy. So
