Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Onesie question

This is probably a dumb question, but here it goes...

We got tons of hand-me-down clothes for DS, to the point that I have bought almost nothing for him.  Among the clothes, there were a ton of onesies in NB, 0-3, 3-6 sizes.  However, now looking through clothes in 6-12m sizes, they are all just tops (t-shirts) and pants.  There are hardly any onesies (short or long sleeves) that are bigger than 6 month size.

So my question is, are you still putting your LO in onesies?  I don't particularly like dressing DS in just tops + pants because every time I pick him up, the tops ride up.  Or is that just something that I have to get used to?  Of course, it's starting to get warm here so I don't really want to dress him in 2 layers either (onesie then short-sleeve top)...

Re: Onesie question

  • I prefer onesies but I have noticed too that the older he gets, the more the clothes are just shirts and not onesies.  When I put him in a regular shirt, I put a thin white short sleeved onesie under the shirt.  That way when the shirt rides up,

  • DD wears onesies almost every day, but now that the weather is getting nicer we're making the transition to sundresses, rompers, and creepers. She hardly ever wears separates.
  • I must be the exception...I love seperates for my Little Guy!  He looks so cute in a regular shirt and shorts.  Like a big boy.  Yes, they have a tendency to ride up but it's not too bad.  But even saying that we still put him in

  • I have noticed the same thing. I was at TCP over the weekend and didn't see a single onesie over 6 months. I just keep searching until I find them though. Until he starts walking, one piece outfits will be a staple.

  • Lots of onesies still happening over here, for the exact reason you stated.

Now that it's getting warmer I've also purchased some rompers. sooo cute!

  • We use onesies. With DS, I used them until he hit the 24-month size and we were then onto potty training. I hate a kid's stomach to be exposed and cold. Carter's has the best onesies.

  • They are less common but you should be able to still find them in larger sizes. LO wears 12 mo and 18 mo onesies.

  • We always put DD in onesies now that it's getting warmer. If it's a little bit chilly we'll put pants on her.

  • We still wear onesies, but not as much as we used too. Mainly becuase a lot of his outfits now in the 6-12 month size don't leave a lot of room for added layers. I actually need to pick him up some 12 month short sleeve onesies for the summer. Thanks for t

  • I agree I hate shirts only, I buy white onesies (I think I saw tank top style too at the store) to put under shirt outfits. Otherwise her belly always sticks out too. Onesie outfits still exist in bigger sizes but definitely harder to come by.
