Bathtub basics 101

Ok I have some questions about bath time.

1.  Do you use dirty/soapy water to rinse your baby's head/face?  How do you avoid this?

2.  How do you rinse their hair?  My son stiffens up and won't lean back but dumping water on his head seems cruel.  What do you do?

Any other tips would be great!!!

  • I drain all the dirty water out and turn the faucet back on. I lay her back and rinse the soap from her hair. Then I take the rinse cup and put fresh water in it from the faucet and rinse her off.

  • I wash his face/hair as soon as he gets in the tub, then he plays, then we wash the rest of his body.  I dump the water over his head then use my hand to wipe the water from his eyes.  There is no way that he would lay back and let me gently rin
  • We installed a movable shower head so I drain the tub, let him stand and hose him down. He loves it.

  • I put soap in the water and basically create a bubble bath for her. I wash her all over with that soapy water and occasionally add soap to a washcloth and wash her with the too. As far as the face, I usually wash her face first.

    I dump wate

  • we use two tubs for her.

#1 - as soon as she's in, we wash her face...soap her hair...then basically heading south. We rinse her with clean water. She leans her head back (tho, I used to just (carefully) dump water on her head (so she won't be to

  • We rinse her off with the shower head (the kind that's on a hose) after draining the water. It works out fantastic. She stands up and I tip her head back and aim the spray from her forhead to the back of her head so it doesn't get in her eyes, then we do

  • We have no method.  Sometimes the face is washed first, sometimes not, and we don't drain the tub.  She didn't just come home from the coal mine so I figure she isn't dirty enough to worry about it.  She has developed an aversion to being l

  • OP, you're overthinking it.  Just dump water on his head, he'll live.  And we use the tub water to rinse, then just run cleaner water to really rinse.

We add the soap to the bath while it is filling, but I have never really considered it "dirty" water, it isn't like she is rolling a

  • I fill up two large "cups" with water while I'm filling up the tub, I use half of one to wet his hair and the other to rinse it.

We have the same issue as  you with the actual process of wetting his hair...he tries to bolt...I feel like

  • Unless DS is poopy, he gets rinsed with the same water he plays in.  He's gotten water on his face since he was old enough to want to sit up in the tub, so he's used to it. Hasn't killed him yet.

  • I do use "dirty" water to rinse.  If I wanted to avoid it, I'd fill a clean cup from the spout, but it really doesn't bother me.

As for rinsing, DS went through a stage where he HATED having water poured on him.  He'd get really scared
