how far in advance did they schedule c-section?

I am 30 weeks. My doc says he will likely schedule a c-section for 38 weeks if things remain status quo. But when will he actually do the scheduling and set a date. i.e. how far in advance will I know the date?  What was your experience?

BTW  does a scheduled c-section at 38 weeks seem late to you?  Or are they likely to come before then anyway...?

I think they scheduled mine when I was 35 weeks for 38 weeks. I made it to my scheduled c-section and probably would have gone longer if my doc had let me. So 38 weeks doesn't seem late to me at all.

38 weeks seems right on target. My doc only scheduled out about a week in advance. The waiting makes you crazy, but it's best to cook those babies!

If I had gone that long (but I didn't) my OB wouldn't schedule the c-section to happen until 39 weeks.  I only lasted 34 but I was on bedrest from 26 on.

I have been wondering the same thing about how far in advance they will schedule.  My Dr said somewhere between week 37 and week 38, but I really would like to know ahead of time because I need to tell out of town family and because the Holidays are right then.

I think 38 is pretty common.  My doctor said that is their "rule."  He said he would schedule mine for exactly 38 weeks, which is January 1st, no tax deduction for this year if that happens!

My dr said she would schedule one for when I am 37 weeks, the week before Christmas. We have discussed scheduling it before, but then the babies flipped and were both head down so we put it off. I am hoping at my appt on Friday we can put something on the calendar.
