I don't share a lot of my political beliefs on here, but I consider myself to be a moderate. My sister and BIL are pretty liberal, while my parents, brother, and SIL are very conservative. I disagree with certain viewpoints from both sides. Tonight at dinner, the subject of guns come up. Long story short, my brother told me I had been listening to my sister and BIL too much. Basically insunuated that I didnt have a mind of my own.I was so pissed off. I didn't go off on him, but just said that I have a mind of my own and I refused to talk about it anymore because it was like talking to a brick wall. Now, I really know why you shouldn't talk religion and politics at the dinner table.

I totally agree. Politics/religion discussions can get so heated and then throw family into the mix, and it gets sticky. My dad has very different viewpoints than I, and he always wants to start up a debate, but I always steer it back to ne
