How do you position your car seats for 2u2?

DH and I each have large sedans. Just curious how you position your car seats for 2u2?  Do you position the youngest in the middle or do you keep them on opposite sides so the eldest doesn't poke/touch the youngest?  DD has her convertible car seat and when DS arrives he will have the infant car seat.  Appreciate any tips!

  • Whether or not you put one in the middle is going to depend on your carseat and car. Ours will be on opposite sides.

  • You need to check your owner's manual, especially if you are using the LATCH system. Some cars have specific safety recommendations. It will also depend on if you have two of the little latch bars for the carseat hooks to attach to - you are never supp

When DD was still in the infant seat, she was in the middle and DD was behind the drivers seat. Now that she's in a convertible, she's behind the passenger seat and DS is still behind the driver.

  • Right now we will have them on opposite sides of the car. DD will be 18months when DS comes in June, so she will still be RF. DH is tall, so the driver's seat (he always drives) needs to be pretty far back and DD's seat doesn't fit behind it in the RFi

  • We have a mini van now but prior to that we drove a Ford Explorer.  I had the car seats on the sides - DD1 rearfaced on the passenger side and DD2 on the driver side.

  • Up until recently, I had DD1 behind the passenger and DD2 behind the driver.  There's lots of street parking in my area, so I wanted DD1 to exit onto the sidewalk.  Now DD1 is good at listening and DD2 wants to test her boundaries, so DD2 now ex
