First we were going to go with Jackson. Then we were immediately bombarded with the fact that Jackson is apparently everyone's favorite name and is extremely over the top trendy.
We were going to go with Wyatt Gordon until it came to our attention that 1. the name is trendy and 2. we live in the South and although we don't have accents a lot of people do and we don't like the possibility of people calling him "WAAAAATT" rather than the two syllable "why-att." We have heard people say the name in this way. 3. We don't relate with the people we have met who have small children with this name.
Now I am really torn. We love the name Henry and it goes with the middle name Gordon. We like the nick-name Hank. But again, I am worried that it is just too trendy. However, unlike Wyatt because Henry is a little more common/classic sounding can it pass as not too trendy?
Our second choice is Emmett, but we can't use the middle name Gordon with Emmett because our last name starts with the letter G and he would be an EGG. I tend to think of us as out of touch nerds to begin with, so I'd like to avoid any potential name-related teasing. We love Gordon as a middle name because it has significance for both of us but we're not keen on it as a first name.
So, I guess at the end of the day it's a bummer to know that you're just like everyone else. How common is Henry in your area - in 2011 it was #57 and #74 in our state. Do you come across lots of little Henrys/Hanks? What would you do?
Re: this is hard.
To answer your other question, I don't know of any Henry's IRL.

I live in the south. I don't know any Henrys or Emmetts but have seen plenty of Jacksons and a couple of Wyatts. My personal favorite is Emmett and just go with a different mn OR give him the initials EGG. Eggs are not a bad thing, in fact I happen to
I have never understood why people are so worried about what initials spell? Who cares? If you like Emmett Gordon, I sure as heck wouldn't let that stop from naming my kid that. My daughter is Emma Kate E. She's EKE! And i

I like both Henry and Wyatt.
With Wyatt I can understand the issue with the accent but I wouldn't worry about not relating to others who have used the same name.
I would probably also say that the southern accent would turn me off of the na
Love the name Henry. It is classic, not trendy.
We briefly lived in DC and our playgroup there had 2 Henry's.
We moved back to Atlanta and there is a Henry down the street from us.
Still, I would differentiate between pop
I think you're over thinking a lot of these.
Initials EGG is no big deal. Seriously. Unless initials spell out , it really doesn't matter. Worrying about teasing due to initials is silly.
Henry/Hank is not trendy, its classic. And even if i
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
I think Wyatt is a great name, but if people in your area tend to pronounce it wrong, that would rub me the wrong way too.
Henry is also a great name. Not trendy. I don't know any
Initials of EGG wouldn't deter me. You could also
I know it's easy to talk yourself out of names for this reason or that.
I think Henry is fine to use.
