Lack of Diversity

According to the 2010 census there was 1 black person, 1 native American, 16 Hispanic or latino persons, 19 people with 2 or more races, and 2 people from other races living in our town. The rest of the people (97.1%) are white.  Embarrassed

We will definitely be making sure that DS doesn't spend his whole life only knowing this area.

  • My area if fairly racially diverse, but it's a high socio-economic area, which I think leads to more homogenization than racial diversity.

  • I was born in LA and lived there for 8 years before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area and living there for 22 years. The lack of diversity/culture here still kind of blows me away even after living here for 10 years. DS is growing up in a place

    I agree with Lopes, but would also point out that teachers can also have a big impact on that kind of thing.  I did some of my student teaching in small town Ontario and was really impressed with how well the teachers taught the students about div
