I have been asked by my department to plan a small retirement get together for our boss. We have a relatively small department, and we are all engineerings (we are all a bunch of self proclaimed nerds). Most of the department has young kids (under 3), one has teenages.
We are toying with the idea of making the retirement a family party. The party will likely be held the last part of May, and we are in Michigan so the weather is a little crazy right now.
So my question is if it's a family event, what types of activity(ies) would you recommend?
Would you be annoyed to go to your spouses boss' retirement party if it was a family thing? FWIW, I think DH would acutally like my department though he has never really met them.
