Secondary IF

Can you tell me about IF testing?

Hi Everyone,

Can someone tell me about your experience with IF testing. We have been TTC #2 for about 9 months now - with a loss in the middle. I have had a previous loss as well before my DD.

At what point is it "acceptable" to ask for testing at my OB/GYN's office? Are the rules any different for TTC #1 vs TTC #2 - as I know the rule of thumb is 1 year.

Thanks!

BFP #1 7/31/09 - m/c 8/22/09

BFP #2 4/15/10 - DD born 12/31/10

BFP #3 9/24/12 - m/c 10/15/12

Dx PCOS/LPD 5/2013 - Rx Metformin (1500mg) and GF diet

BFP #4 6/10/13 - CP 6/12/13

8/2013 Rx for low dose Naltrexone

9/2013 DH's SA showed low motility/morph/viability

10/2013 Lap removed multiple areas of scar tissue adhesions and opened blocked tube.

BFP #5 1/24/2014 - EDD 10/3/2014

This could be it! Grow baby!

  • Depends on your age. You are not considered having IF unless you have been ttc one year or more, or if over 35 six months. Most Dr also don't consider loss testing until you have three I believe in a row.
Do you chart? That can give you a lot

  • It is true that the rule of thumb is one year ttc or 6 months if you are 35 or older. However, I asked my ob about testing approximately 8 cycles into it i am under 35. He did a couple of tests in his office and was quick to go ahead and refer me to a R

  • Yes if you are close to 35 get checked. It is first a lot of blood tests, but worth it. IF something is not right you have time on your side to fix it. Best of luck!

  • My OBs guidelines were 3 m/c in a row, 12 months in a row w/o a viable pregnancy if you are under 35 and 6 months if you are over 35 or have a preexisting medical condition.

Most doctors start with a sperm analysis and blood work because th
