XP from Breastfeeding: What to do with oversupply?

I know some of you are over at the BF board, but I thought I'd post over here too since people post new threads more frequently on that board that my post will get lost quickly.

I have almost 200 ounces of frozen milk and the earliest date is 1/29.  I nurse DD when I am home and pump at work.  I pump only two times a day and take home about 10-12 ounces which I pour into two bottles.  DH said that DD will finish the first bottle but not the second, so by the end of the week I have a lot of fresh milk in the fridge and end up freezing some of it. Even during the work week, I will freeze an additional bag or two.  I'm running out of room in the freezer and DD is not keeping up with my supply.

I keep going back and forth about donating the milk through Eats for Feets. I could do a one-time donation of 100 ounces.   I don't mind donating, but I'm concerned I'll need that milk someday.  DH suggests we start using the frozen milk and freezing the fresh milk that I come home with.

  • If she's not keeping up with your output you'll continue to add to the freezer stash even if you start using it.

I vote for doing a donation. I did one myself and it feels good to help babies in need. Plus, from the sounds of it you'll re

  • My DH said what yours said, but I could never get rid of any of my milk. I hoarded it for the "just in case" of "what if I get sick? Need surgery? Have to travel?" Etc. Consequently, I had to throw a bunch away after it had been in my normal freezer for w

  • It sounds to me like it's definitely time to start rotating the freezer stash. If you work full-time, how about giving your DD frozen milk on Monday and freezing Friday's milk (plus any extra) each week? That way you could slowly rotate your stash whil

  • I agree with what the PP said about donating it. You sound like you are keeping up fine with what DD needs. Even if you donate half of your freezer stash, you still have pleanty as backup if you need it and if your oversupply keeps up, you can make anothe
