XP:Update, home from amnio

Long story short: had my amnio today, but after trying to see him with the exterior u/s (can't remember what it's called) the Dr had to do it transvaginaly.  DH and I immediately saw the heartbeat and baby boy moving like crazy.  It was heartbreaking because everything looked absolutely perfect to me...like the nightmare was over.  But after the initial u/s the dr said he could see dilated kidneys, a protrusion on the umbilical cord which he believes is part of the bowels which is obviously not normal.  The worst news is of the brain.  There is hydrocephalus in a quadrant. . 

Once he saw this by u/s, then he attempted the amnio. He had to try twice with two different needles. I definitely had some cramping on the inside. It wasn't extreme but it did hurt somewhat. He did not get the sample of amniotic fluid he needed.  He tried twice and said that he didn't feel comfortable trying any further until the baby has grown a bit more.  So, I have to wait until April 23 to have this done...again.   This is a total nightmare.  So we're waiting even longer now to verify the inevitable.
