DD Update

Thanks all for the prayers and for letting me vent in my previous posts a few weeks back. I've been very busy with tax season so haven't had a chance to update periodically but I figured I'd give you all one now that we are almost done of this saga.
DD got her hip spica cast off yesterday. She has learned to crawl in the thing and it was amazing but I couldn't have been happier for her to get it off. The doctor told us it could be 2 weeks - 2 months before she would walk again. I wasn't sure what to expect when we got home since she hasn't really used her leg or abdominal muscles for so long.
She she got home she immediately began to crawl, albeit pretty strangely with her "bad" leg out straight. But then she got in a sitting position which really surprised me because I thought her core strength would be shot. Then she proceeded to pull up on the couch to standing. She was pretty wobbly and my husband had a hand under her armpits just in case but I was beyond shocked.
Then today she took TEN (!!!) unassisted steps, not holding onto anything. It was wobbly as hell and she looked more like frankenstein but I was so excited. She seems to be in really good cheer with no pain at all. She got her first bath in 6 weeks yesterday and that was exciting though she appears to be scared of the sound of the water pouring - I think it reminds her of the noise of the saw that was used to cut the cast so that's been an unexpected side effect.
She is on this kick where she repeats a lot of what we say so in the car on the way home I asked her "are you happy now?" and she goes "happy, happy, happy" hahaha, I don't think she knew what it meant but it totally melted my heart.
