Dr appt today no sono

The dr said according to Last menstrual period I am 6 weeks 1 day... And I have to go back next week for ultrasound.... I felt like they just want me to pay for another dr visit... Of is an U/S pointless at this time? And I call tomorrow for pregnancy confirmation blood work... It's feeling more and more real!
