AMA and induction ?

Lurker here with a question.

I went for my 34 week appointment today and asked how long they would let me go now that my previa is out of the way.  The OB said they would not let me go past my due date since I am older than 38.  I just said ok at the time, but now I want to know why (and I'll ask at my next appointment).  Was anyone else told this?  Has anyone gotten their doctor to agree to wait if mom and baby stay healthy?

    Yes! My OB said something similar. After doing research myself and asking on this board, I found out that with AMA there comes a higher risk of placenta insufficiency when you go past your due date. The ladies on this board were very helpful and most said

    My OB won't let me go past 41 weeks.  I asked if it had to do with my age and she said no, that's her general policy.

    TTC 10/11. IUI 2/12. BFP 3/8/12. 4/26/12 missed mc. RE consult 5/17/12. IVF #1 ER 7/13/12 53R, 41M ICSIed, 32F, 8 5d, 6 6d blasts - all PGD/frozen. PGD results 1 normal M and 1 normal F, 1 maybe M. FET 9/6, transferred 1 F embie. Beta 9/15 BFN. FET#2 planned for 11/2012 put off until 2013. Surprise BFP 11/21/12!! My son was born on 7/24/13!

    FET 4/28/2015 - Transferred 1 M embie. 5/6/15 BFP!

    I agree with what the pp said about placental insufficiency.  My doctor is concerned with this and is having me do twice weekly bpp's now to make sure all is ok.  He will let me go to 41 weeks though before an induction but I'm not over 38 so I

    I personally did not want to be induced, especially for no real reason. My OB would let me go to 42 weeks so long as I was monitored with NSTs and AFI measurements to make sure the old placenta was working (I was 38 when I delivered, and I don't think the

    FET #1 ET 1 d5 embryo 02/10/15 BFN

    Thank you everyone.  I figured it was due to placental insufficiency.  I would like to avoid an induction if I can and I already have weekly NST/BPP from 36w on, so I will ask about holding off.  And maybe she'll come a little early and the

    My OB and midwife both have brought this up. There is research to indicate a higher rate of stillbirth on older moms that are past dur. They will monitor weekly once we get closer to the end, but since I will be almost 41 so I am a little more willing to
