I'm kind of a CraigsList newbie, I need some advice on ettiquette! I only bought one thing from CL before and I went to the ladies house. If you buy stuff from CL do you usually go to the house? Or try to ask to meet in a public place? I contacted a guy today about an InStep jogging stroller for $30 (I assume this is a good deal? I don't know, it's the 5k model and I think its a bit older but in good shape) but he wants me to pick it up from the house and I just don't know if it's smart to do this. Also -- do you ever try to get the price down or just pay what they ask?

I always have people pick stuff up from my home. Every time I have bought something I pick it up from their house too. Just bring someone with you.
When I sell things often times buyers do a no-show, so I would be hesitant to m
I think it's okay to ask to meet in a public place. If you're meeting at someone's house, I recommend letting someone know exactly where you'll be. You might also tell the person you're picking up from that you'd like them to meet you outside or bring

My DH sells a lot of pricey camera equipment via Craigslist. He always meets them somewhere public like a Starbucks. (Which is what I want him to do, because if they know we have pricey camera stuff in the house, I don't want them to know where w
You guys are so cautious!(not saying that is bad)
I always have MH home when the buyers come. I guess I am just more trusting. When I buy stuff it is usually in my own little suburb, and I have someone with me. Most of
If I'm selling something, I'll make sure H is home if someone is coming by. If I'm buying, I take H or my brother with me.
However, I've only bought and sold furniture from CL, so meeting in a public place wasn't really convenient.
It depends on the item. If the item is small, I ask to meet somewhere public. Otherwise, I'd just go to their house.
DEFINITELY negotiate the price. We saw a practially new toddler bed, dresser & toddler table/chair set advertised for $150.

I negotiate, but I'm polite when I'm doing it. I would NEVER have someone come to my house. For starters, I don't want strangers knowing were I live. Secondly, not so long ago someone around here was murdered trying to sell a diamond
