Anyone have advice on how to start getting LO to fall asleep on his own/without being rocked or having us in the room? He's on a floor bed, but has never in his life fallen asleep without someone laying with him or rocking him.
I was going to try a stuffed Thomas train (he's become obsessed) that is for nighttime only, and only when mom or dad are not there. I'm not sure if he'll understand that or if he'll love it enough to choose it over us. But I thought we'd try this and maybe try again in a few weeks/months until he does get it.
But I also thought I'd ask for thoughts or advice here.
He absolutely cannot cry it out, even if I got comfortable with the idea...with a new baby in the house, he's had three instances in the last four months where I couldn't get to him before he worked himself into a total crying frenzy...and each time he threw up.
I'd also be curious if anyone else also put their child to bed this way (rocking/laying with them until asleep), how old were they when they could start to fall asleep on their own? And what worked?
TIA
Re: Bedtime routine advice
