Sign Language

I am going to be doing sign language. I want to begin it sooner than later. Most sites say 6 months. Any moms on here do sign? When did you start?

  • My friend did it with her daughter and I love how she communicates even now at 16 months old. We will be doing it with DS but I need to get with my friend to see how she did it and when she started. Most sites I've looked at say to start at 6 months...

  • We've been getting the DVD Signing Time from the library. I like them they are geared to the kids but I've learned some good signs to teach her.

  • Babies learn sign language the same way they learn spoken language. By hearing the same words repeatedly during their day to day lives. They understand the words before they can say them/sign them. With that in mind, I've been signing a few things for

  • I just purchased a book on it yesterday and plan to try it. It says start at 6 months, but I'm going to start doing some basic signs now just so she gets used to it.

  • I've started signing since DS was perhaps 2 months?  I know he won't be able to sign until much older, but what's the harm in starting early?  I only do about 5 signs: Mommy, all done, milk, more, sleep

  • I've been trying to show her the signs since maybe 3 months, but not on a regular basis yet.  I want to, but I keep forgetting.  I am a special Ed teacher and try to use some signs with my students.

  • We are planning to teach her sign language.  Babysignlanguage.com recommends starting between 6-8 months, but to make it habit for myself, I've been signing "Mommy" and "Daddy" for a couple of months now...once she shows any signs of trying to mimic

  • we started at 3 mos- I just sign 'diaper' and 'milk'

    I will add more signs like 'more', all done, mommy, daddy, sleep probably when he's 6 mos old

  • my baby is 3 months old and even though she can't "do" the signs yet I still do them to her. This way I get into the habit of doing them and I can have a refresher course on it too. She does seem to enjoy watching me do them  and she'll normally r

  • I started signing with CJ at 3 months. Milk, more and finished. I just sign whenever I say the words, and while CJ obviously can't make signs yet I'm pretty sure he has a grasp of the milk sign because when I do it he will get all excited and nuzzle into

  • Baby needs control of arms and hands.  Start with simple words you use all the time. I.e. more, food, mom, dad, etc...
  • I started pretty much right away. He obviously couldn't understand, but it got me into a routine.
    Sept 2013 started TTC#2 (never got PP period so hoping for the first egg to drop)
    Jan 2014 - diagnosed POF (Premature Ovarian Failure) and told pregnancy not possible without egg donor because my ovaries would never function again with my hormone levels (FSH 136, LH 98.6, AMH <.03, estradiol 0, HCG 7) - using acupuncture, chiropractic care and TCM herbs / supplements
    March 11, 2014 ovulated despite every doctors prognosis!!!
    Oct 2014 hormones (FSH 48, Estradiol 89, HCG 1) not good, but heckuva lot better!
