My doula is not from this area but I know that Eileen Ryan, Jenni Kershaw, Dena King and Maren Rausch are all local doulas who are VERY well known and come highly recommended (I'm sure if you google any of their names you will find their contact info). You could also contact DONA to get a list of certified doula's in the area. I know another bumpie (not sure if she posts anymore) just posted this contact info about a friend of hers who is working towards her DONA certification so you could also look into her which would be a cheaper option.
This was the post my friend made: if anyone is interested in having a doula attend your childbirth, my close friend is working on her certification through DONA right now and although she did not make it to my birth (obviously) she has been a great support to me during my pregnancy and postpartum. She went to the hospital with me that morning when I was puking and not even in labor yet, and was there at the hospital to meet us after she got the call that DD was born. By her very nature, she is such a server and has such a great heart for other women and moms. I have no doubt that she will be amazing doula and has found her calling! https://robinmulcahydoula.wix.com/doula#
Contact the Cincinnati area doula society. The meet all around town every few months for a meet and greet. My husband and I just went to a meeting last month at Blue Cocoon. Eileen Ryan was booked but we are using a newer one. Some of the great doulas book soon.
I am glad I can help a new doula out because it will help us! I never used one with any of my other kids but I have heard amazing things about what they offer.
I'm using Eileen Ryan...she's been attending births longer than I've been alive which is just super impressive! We also considered Jenni Kershaw/Dena King, Erica Konya, and Jeannie Brigger (not taking primary clients). I liked that Jenni and Dena work as a pair but my OB is in love with Eileen (who surprisingly doesn't charge much more than others).
I second the Meet the Doulas event. The next one looks like May 9th if you can make it. It was nice to meet all the doulas that we were considering in a single shot versus setting up individual appointments. What you'll find is that many of the doulas serve as back-up for each other in the event they can't personally attend your birth so was also nice to at least talk to them. Generally speaking, they share birth philosophies so will be in good hands.
