Gaius has been a GP name of mine since watching Battlestar Galactica. The more I think about it though, the more I like it. We're having a girl, so I certainly wouldn't use it now, but just wondering what the BNB thinks of it.
A lot of ancient Roman names are GP names for me, but this is one I'm not really familiar with. I am familiar with Caius, so I wonder if people would get the two confused?
I have never watched BSG so I wouldn't make that connection, but if a lot
I really like Gaius. I think of Gaius and Caius as essentially the same name ? like Amerigo and Americo. There isn't a lot of difference between the C and G.
I hadn't thought of the teasing for "gay-us" before, but now it's sort of hard to un-see
I have a friend who named her son this, and I just cannot understand it. I really don't care for it. (Is it pronounced Guy-ss? Or Guy-us?) I don't even know, I've only seen it in writing.
I don't think of Battlestar Galactica at all. I think ancient Rome and Gaius Julius Caesar. I love the Roman style name however I can't get on board with this one as much as some others. I wouldn't use it as a first name if you do ever use it because most
I haven't seen BSG, but my first reaction is that it's a bit too Roman Centurion for me. Julius, Marcus, Augustus, Cornelius are all great. Gaius is too much IMO.
I would never do it... I have no idea about BSG and I know how it is phonetically pronounced but I wouldn't want to subject my kid to the ignorant third graders who would no doubt take this as an easy target to butcher and tease.
It makes me think of BSG. He's sort of a self absorbed d-bag so not really someone I would want to use as a namesake. To me it would be different if you loved the name beforehand and chose to use it in spite of his douchiness.
