Toddlers: 24 Months+

UTI in 2 1/2 DD

Just got back from the DR. w my DD she has a UTI.  First one ever. I have herd of this in toddler girls ages 3-5 is a bit common.  Just wondering if anyone has been through this and what are some ways to treat/ prevent.

  • my daughter has had one or two recently.  I try to make sure she has enough fluids and that she is wiping properly and keeping clean in that area.

  • Yeah, wiping back to front is a huge culprit for UTIs so if she's wiping herself, make sure she isn't going back to front.

  • DD hasn't had UTI but since she's been PT-ing she definitely gets a lot of irritation.  Sometimes it's painful to the point that she doesn't want to wipe or move until the pain subsides.  Based on pedi recs we use flushable wipes at home, I make

  • Ugh how awful!

    I second wiping front to back. I would also forgo bubble baths. One of my friend's little girls kept getting them and she stopped adding bubble bath to bath time and they went away.
