I hope you don't mind me asking you a vet question...I'm kind of at my wit's end. This will probably be tldr. Sorry!
We have a 7.5 year old beagle/border collie mix. Spayd female. Adopted from the humane society as an 8 week old puppy. She never had any behavior problems after our DD was born despite being our baby her entire life. However, we moved this last October from five acres with a huge fenced in backyard to a third of an acre in a subdivision. After our move, she started peeing in the house which she hadn't really done before. We have carpet in the new house so this is a huge problem. She doesn't even tell us when she needs to go out anymore. We take her on long walks, play with her, turn her out in our little yard to romp and sunbathe, but she still comes in and pees. Even after JUST being outside. We're having the carpets professionally cleaned ASAP, but I need this to stop, and I don't know what to do. To make matters worse, our 5.5 year old cat has started randomly doing this, too, even though she has two clean litter boxes.
I'm about to pull my hair out. I'm going to try to find a neighbor kid to walk her during the day this summer for some extra cash since we do work all day and she can be high energy. We do clean the carpets ourselves as soon as she does this, but I'm guessing it's not enough for the dog and cat to not smell it? Do you think this is just a really bad regression from our drastic change in where we live or something else? I love her so so much, but she's making me a little crazy!
