I apologize in advance I'm a Ftm mom and not sure if this warrants a call to the pedi. My son turned 3 months old on the 4 th his adjusted age is 8 weeks. Yesterday he started putting his fist in his mouth. It's constant at first I thought maybe he was hungry but he breast feeds about 10 minutes each side as many times he wants and bottle feeds. Last week we started adding a sprinkle of cereal to formula to elevate some gas problems he really seems to like it I make him a 4oz bottle and he takes his fill usuallay 3 oz to 3 1/2 oz. He is not hungry when he is doing it because its right after feeding that he continues to suck on his fist. If you finger happens to pass by he will suck that too. I thought maybe he is just discovering his hands but since he is preemie I'm not sure if he could be reaching normal stages for some things and taking a little longer for others. I did a google search( I know I shouldn't:) but I'm just curious) and found results for teething. I didn't anticipate that response and although he does drool a little bit he does not have any redness on his gums. He has not been sick or had any problems since coming home from NICU so I just want to keep an eye on things and not get so comfortable with the idea that everything has been ok. Also if there is something I could and should be doing for him I would just want to know to keep him as healthy as possible. Thanks for any advise
