DH and I have been tortured with boy names; we hardly like anything, but recently he suggested 'Wes' like Wes Craven. I like it but I wonder if we should name him 'Wesley', which is what it's actually short for. DH is still a fan of leaving it just Wes. What do you guys think? If we name him Wesley we can still call him Wes, but it will become a nickname instead if being his actual name.

I have a 9mo old nephew named Wesley and the only time his full name is used is when he's getting into something he shouldn't be... I love that my sister gve him a classic strong name but we all do call him just Wes.

My 35 yo husband is a Wes. The only people who call him Wesley are older people/his parents. You could also consider Weston as a younger version.

Thanks so much for the replies! Weston is nice, but my cousin named her son that so I'd rather not use it. I am getting partial to Wesley and I think you guys are right that it won't be used that often.

I love Wesley- it's my cousins name and he is just Wes unless he is in trouble. It's nice to have a full name to yell.

I think Weston or Wesley are great if you want Wes to just be a NN.

Yes, I would do Wesley and you could absolutely just call him Wes. Even Wes Craven was born Wesley Earl Craven.

I love the name Wes.  I personally would use Wesley as the full name.  I've never liked Weston.

I like Wes by itself. Wesley is also ok. But I'm not a fan of naming a LO a big name then never calling him by his entire first name unless he's in trouble.
