Rolling after sitting up

My des is about 9 1/2 months. He started getting himself into the sitting position about 2 weeks ago. I noticed about 4 days ago that he has stopped rolling.  He sits up looks around gets into crawling position and starts all over again. A few times he's been whining that he can't get a toy and I tell him he knows how to roll to it or learn to crawl.  Is it normal to stop rolling like this before crawling?  

 He also uses hi forehead most of the time when he sits up.  Anyone else's do this? I asked st daycare and she responded they all have their own quirks whic I felt was a polite way of saying he's the only one. Lol.

lastly sometimes after the crawl position he lays down on his belly and almost looks like he's sky diving,if ting his arms and. Legs up a little with back arched.  I have no ideas what that could be about...

Sounds like he is busy developing new skills! I wouldn't be worried about the fact that he stopped rolling. It's still a skill he knows but he is trying to figure out how to do things in a different way. I've heard many times they stop using a skill when
