Baby Names

Cooper

This is my husband's top name suggestion for our boy. I am not really sure how I feel about it.

I lurk on this board a bit, and I would welcome your feedback on this name.

Thanks!

Re: Cooper

  • NMS-- Makes me think of a dog.  Sorry
  • This is a baby-ish name. I don't feel like it grows up with a boy.

His nn will be Super Pooper...........guaranteed!

what about carter, carson or cameron?

  • There was a little boy at my old daycare named Cooper. His teacher called him "mini coop". I like the name...I guess I have never met an adult cooper, though...so I don't know if it ages well.
  • SOUNDS LIKE A DOG NAME.

TRY IT AS A MIDDLE NAME.... LIKE

MATTHEW COOPER OR JONATHON COOPER AND HAVE HIS NICKNAME COOPER.

I love Cooper. One of my favorite boy names.

  • Obviously in the minority here but I love Cooper. It possibly helps that we have a Cooper at daycare and he is so precious and sweet. I think Carter and Conner are way too overused, especially where I live. Cooper is a nice alternative to those names, IMO

... is a last name (occupational). It's one of those LN-as-FN things I dislike.

  • I don't love it    I think it comes off a little juvenile or nicknamey...
  • I love Cooper, but I'm a big fan of -er names.  Maybe because I can't use them?  Forbidden fruit theory.

  • In general I'm not a fan of occupational names. However one of my godson's is named Cooper. It means barrel maker and was a nod to his grandfather who was the brew master at a local brewery. So while it is nms, I thought the sentiment was sweet.

  • I agree!  And it isn't as common as other suggestions gals are giving.  We were going to choose Benjamin Cooper if our last was a boy.  Never met a cooper dog, have a good friend with a 15 mos old Cooper.  Love the NN "Coop".  Cho
