I don't remember when my kids first tried gum. We're not big gum chewers. I wouldn't get it specifically for a 3 year old to walk around chewing everyday, but I'd let him try it from an easter basket or party favor. And I think there is a big differenc

No. DD is almost 4.5 and I just now started allowing her to chew gum and it's only when she's sitting or standing right next to me and she knows that she has to spit it out.
My daughter always swallowed it when she was that she I think she was at least 6 before I let her have it consistently. I also have a huge pet peeve with smacking so she rarely gets it anyway. ..
I'm in the minority, but yes. Ds had it when he was three, with close supervision. He's now four and really likes it (not daily or anything) and knows he can't be wild or play outside with it and always put it in the garbage. Fwiw,

No - I personal can't stand gum period for anyone. My kids (5 and 6) have tried gum a few times and don't really care for it. The whole process of how people chew and the noise is such a pet peeve of mine - this lady at my kids swim class look
