Group b strep

My doctor recently called and said they found I had group b strep in my routine urine test and I'm 24 weeks pregnant. I've never heard of this but she put me on antibiotics. Has anyone had this and can tell me how to stop worrying about getting it again or worrying about it getting to my baby before birth?

A friend of mine had strep b and the OB told her the antibiotics would prevent the baby from getting it. She also had a shot before birth!

That's what they said they would do for me as well treat me during delivery..did your friends baby end up getting it?

I had the same question but I am 38 weeks along. So all I know is that I have to go to the hospital right away when labor starts to get an IV on antibotics to make sure baby does not get it.

But wanted to know if anyone else has had it and how l

I had it but was not treated with antibiotics until my water broke then I was on IV penecillin. I ended up having to have pitocin as well because of it to speed my labour up...so disapointing as I knew that crap usually makes u have way more sever labo

Thank you ladies! I was told the same thing that I'd have to go in right away and let them know I have group b strep but no one in my family has had it or heard of it and this is my first baby so I was freaking out! But thank you!
