We aren't quite ready for either one yet, but I know my pedi will recommend starting one of these at our 4 month appt in a few weeks. Anyone know he pros and cons of rice vs. oatmeal? From what I understand, rice has basically zero nutritional value. I am inclined to skip it, but I am wondering if oatmeal might be better. Experiences anyone?

We waited till 6 months. With DD we did rice then switched to oatmeal once the box ran out. We are not going to do rice this time though because I have been reading about how there is arsenic in rice.

With DS I tried both. We did a few trials around 4 months but he really didn't like it, would barely take any. What I did find useful was when I was trying to make baby food thicker. Add the oatmeal to it and it gives it more texture.
