A dude that I know just got "endorsed" for cold-calling....

I would not want that endorsement!  Andplusalso, I think endorsements are sort of stupid on LinkedIn...I could endorse you for anything - but there isn't anything to back it up!  Who comes up with this stuff!

    ITA!  DH asked me to endorse him for project management.  YES we DID work together, and he ROCKS as a PM, but hello incestuous looking much?  As if the endorsement construct isn't meaningless enough....

    I think it depends on your industry. My husband is in IT. And endorsements from certain people went along way for him. He had the endorsment of a large local figure in the industry.

    The endorsements, to me, are similar to the "like" button on FB - relatively meaningless.  I would much rather see a written recommendation for it to hold any weight.

    Being in HR hiring sales people I find the endorsements helpful when determining if I am going to contact the about a job or not.
