Babies on the Brain

Does a class exist for this?

My husband and I are thinking about getting pregnant. He has a PhD and with an engineering background, and he prefers that everything is carefully planned. I'm more of the type of person that goes with my feelings and gut instict. We're total opposites on this spectrum but we work :) With the way he moves along in life, he would like to take a class to learn about what to expect as a parent. Not your typical prenatal class where you learn about pregnancy and newborns but more along the lines of financial planning tips, topics to think about including schooling, how to better prepare and maintain your relationship with an additional family member... I know there may be books on this topic and I've had a hard time finding any information about actual classes. His first language is not English so a class with the important bits summarized would work much better than a stack of books. Does a course or workshop like this even exist?

  • I unfortunately do not have advice for a class/book about this, but I can say that your husband sounds exactly like mine!! He has a masters in aerospace engineering - it must be something with engineers ;)

  • I don't know that it exists in one class, but if you met with a financial planner who could council you on long term stuff with college/school, and monetary planning for child/ren.

Outside of that I might say you could find a class that wo

  • I found several relevant classes through some different social services agencies, non-profits, and other community-based organizations. For example, I took an Active Parenting workshop focusing on the first four developmental ages/stages, a CPR certifica
