For those of you who didn't choose a family name for a middle name for your child, how did you decide what to pick? Did you just pick something that sounded good with the first and last names? Or did you get inspiration from something else, like naming after a character in a book or a meaningful place? We're trying to think of middle names and we are just getting stuck. I'm afraid everything we've thought of sounds like "filler" names.
Our boy name is Logan. We have Logan James and Logan Reid as possibilities. After doing some googling it seems like James is a fairly common middle name for Logan so I'm worried about it being filler. We think it sounds nice and we like how it is also Harry Potter's middle name. (We both love the HP books and movies.) We both like James more than Harry. Reid is just a name that we thinks sounds good.
Our girl names are Brooke and Delilah. (We still haven't decided which one yet.) I've thought of Delilah Claire but I'm also worried that's a filler middle name. We haven't really thought of any middle names for Brooke yet.
ETA: Some of you have suggested before that Delilah Brooke sounds good and I agree, but our last name also starts with a "B" and I think it kind of sounds funny. For some reason I like the alliteration with Brooke (as a first name) and our last name but I think it would be weird to have a "B" middle name. Our last name is two syllables, by the way.
Re: How did you pick your (non-family name) middle name?
Honestly, we just went with what sounded good for DD's middle name. My parents did the same when they named my sister and me.
I like Logan with either James or Reid. I know James sounds like a filler MN, but if you like it and have a good

We're not into family names. I like a ton of names, but DH and I did not agree on any names for our DDs. So, I had to compromise on first names and then picked middle names that I wanted to use for first names, but that DH vetoed.
we wanted our kids to have neutral/unconnected first names that we just liked and could be their own, and then have a middle name after someone important to us. our son's middle name is e.e. cummings' middle name, who is my favorite poet. second son's
My daughter is not named after anyone. I simply wanted something feminine. And after reading a baby name book and adhering to some of the "naming rules" they talked about -- such as if you have a multiple syllable fn, a single syllable mn f

DDs name is Josephine May. She's not named after anyone really although she has DH's initials. We chose May because we were married May 22nd.
