Toy storage

My DD is now starting to enjoy individual toys like balls and stuffed animals, things not attached to her play mat or jjumper. So because if this I have started buying her more and am running out of room on the shelves in her closet. What do you put your LOs toys in? I was looking at nice wooden toy chests, but I'm not sure if that is the most practicle route.
