So after my RE appointment yesterday, I got to thinking about the fact that at my old RE's office, he had the AFC done before O (I think like cd 5-9) or something...and at another time I had one done on day 2 or 3.
Yesterday, I had an AFC and was on CD 17 and 3 DPO. I asked the RE if it would matter (doing the AFC post O), and he said it wouldn't, but I could come back early in my next cycle if I wanted to in order to get a baseline...I really did not want to have to go back (and have to take off work or get the nanny, etc.) just for that and I was also interested in confirming O (i.e. seeing if there was a corpus luteum cyst) so I went ahead and did it.
However, today I got to thinking about it more and I thought I remembered hearing or reading somewhere along the way that follicles would sort of die off as you went along in your cycle. In other words, unless you were on meds, you would have fewer follicles by the time you O'd then you would very early on in your cycle. I asked my DH and this is what he thought, too.
Is my memory wrong? Anyone know?

Darn it. I found a website that answered my own question and it said an AFC can be done on any day of your cycle and an AFC of 5 or less means you are unlikely to get pregnant with or without fertility treatment.
