Success after IF

FETthawing ques

We had DS after transferring 2 embys in a fresh cycle and now we have 9 snow babies. We are going to try in late Summer to do a FET. How many snow babies can you thaw if you only plan to transfer up to 2? Can you only thaw 2? I'm just worried that if we only do 2 then if one doesn't survive the thawing process, our chances will be lower. But then I don't want to thaw more then 2 in case they all survive the thaw and we only transfer 2 and then discard any viable ones. I'm sure my doctor will answer all of these questions, but I just wanted to be prepared.

TIA

Re: FETthawing ques

  • When we went back for a FET we had 7 frozen embryos. They were frozen in sets of two except the 7th which was frozen alone. Our plan was to thaw the best straw of two. If neither survived we would thaw the next best straw of two. If one survived we would

  • If they are already frozen then your doctor probably froze them in sets. I didn't know this until they told us after. We had sets of two I believe and maybe one set of 3. Just ask your doctor next time and they'll tell you how they froze them. I think for

We just did an FET and our 6 snow babies were frozen singly. We only transferred 1, and the RE told us that if the embryo didn't survive the thaw that they would thaw another one, and that it only took about an hour thaw it out.
