How to layer?

How do I layer inserts if I have flats? For instance, if I have a hemp insert do I fold it into my flat so the flat fabric is on baby's skin, or does the insert go closest to baby's skin?

    For cotton and hemp it probably wouldn't matter too much, but I would put the insert either inside or behind the flat so that cotton was sitting against the bum. Hemp absorbs more slowly, but honestly I don't think you'd have a problem with any configurat
