I hate my MIL - long

And it really kills me that she watches DS 2-3 days a week because right now i dont have other options. 

She's a homeopathic zealot, and i don't care if people decide to treat their own children homeopathicly-  but i really hate it when people shove crap they believe in down other people's throats- and then are nasty about it if someone has a different opinion. 

 The first time DS was sick, around 6 months all he had at first was a runny nose in the morning and i didnt think a lot about it because i know runny noses and teething go hand in hand and he was otherwise his happy self. So DH dropped him off with MIL and asked her to let us know if he gets worse or before she gives him anything. She can reach me at ANY TIME at work, and can reach DH at work too so communication isnt an issue at any point during the day if she needs to talk to either one of us. 

So I go to pick him up and she's just chattering away about all the *** she gave him because he got worse and was sounding croup-y and was lethargic. She gave him like 2 or 3 homeopathic remedies like it wasnt a big deal. I was LIVID but i didn't say anything because at that point i was so mad i would have spat fire if i had opened my mouth. PLUS i deserve to know if my kid has taken a turn for the worse and make the decision if i want to come home from work to take care of him. 

Fast forward two days and an ER visit with DS, i finally found my inner zen (after 5 beers) and called her to talk to her and ask her why she did gave him all that stuff without asking me, even when she knew we wanted to know beforehand.  She blew up on me like a volcano and (to summarize) said "You don't trust me?!?! You obviously don't know the definition of homeopathic it's just parts per million of blah blah whatever. You're wrong. Nobody can have an allergic reaction to homeopathic remedies (because i made a comment about possible allergic reactions b/c her son has a ton of allergies), you let the doctors at the hospital shoot him full of poison." She said a lot of other nasty things too. I think I ended up just saying "I'm his mom, you're not- and i told you to let me know before you gave him anything." I think i hung up on her, i dont remember. 

Now 3 months later i go to pick him up from her and she's spraying tons of colloidal silver down his throat- which isnt even approved by the FDA for use in humans and can block the body's ability to absorb penicillin. And she was just chatting away again on how she has been giving this too him for a week now and has been pumping my kid with this stuff in copious amounts. I'm enraged once again but call her VERY CALMLY the next day and essentially said "We've been here before and i asked you to let us know and once again you're giving him a bunch of stuff without asking me. Another blow up from her end about how I'm wrong and how she thought she had settled this with me before and thought she could give him stuff, which is a complete lie because the last conversation ended so badly. And told me i was killing my baby with Little Fevers and Tylenol - which he only gets at night 1-2 times a week when he's in discomfort from teething. THEN 2 days later posts on my facebook wall an article from some homeopathic webpage that tylenol murders babies and that homeopathy is god.. or whatever the article said... i dont know. But a private dispute didnt belong on my facebook page so i deleted the article and unfriended her so she cant access anymore because it's on super duper private ninja mode. 

I'm just so ticked off. This isnt the only thing she's done in my life to make me dislike her, but now she's messing with my kid. 

 

Meh.

Oh no, I would be soooooooo pissed off! She sounds like an over reactive psycho! Sorry you have to deal with that crap. Good luck!

First, I am sorry you are dealing with this.

I would have DH talk to his mother. I would also find alternative childcare. If the person caring for my child cant respect my decisions as a parent, they aren't the person that will be caring
