Where have you vacationed with your kids?

We used to be fun people and travel to far off places like Hawaii, Cancun, Vegas.  But now that the kids are getting a little older we're thinking the next trip should be a family vacation.  Some day we'll do Disney - I'm just not sure if we're ready yet.

 Looking for ideas of where others have gone.  My kids are 3 - will be 4 by the time we actually travel.  I was thinking some long weekends to destinations within driving distance will do for the summer.  But I'd like to consider actually putting the kids on a plane and going somewhere.  Just not sure where that should be yet...

What's your experience and/or plan?

Disney - it was a short trip, but awesome.

Myrtle Beach bunches of times with DD (would be much less of a hassle of our place has two bedrooms and was not on the 3rd floor, but it's free, so I can't argue that).

DS has been to the beach with us 3 times so far and we'll be going again this summer. He has loved it every time...it's a little bit of a hassle to pack but your kids aren't as young so it shouldn't be as much stuff hopefully. He just stays entertained

We had such a great time renting a beach house last summer that we did it again this year. We had a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and separate bedrooms. We do a lot of camping trips. We're not planning to do a big vacation for a few years.

We took DD to Maui when she was 10 months old. Thank Gawd she slept 3/4 of the flight coming home since its a 9 hour flight for us.
