Rash

I got my little mister home from daycare yesterday and noticed he some red spots on his neck.  They looked like the spots he gets on his face/neck when my husbands facial hair rubs on his skin.  So I didnt think much of it until I changed his diaper a little while later and he had a full flown rash all over his entire body and was starting to get a bit worse on his face/head and was becoming raised.  He hadn't had anything to eat that he hasn't already had.  They did play outside at daycare, but our provider said that he was not on the ground, but in a bouncy or other things throughout their time outside.  I called ask a nurse and they did their screening...no fever, it's a pinkish rash, not blood or purple in color.  No blisters anything like that.  They said that he is possibly trying to fight off something viral and that is just how some babies react.  She said as long as he isn't running a fever then it is not contagious and should clear up in about 3 days.  It completely freaked me out and I was worried all night that it was going to worse and his air way was going to close up...probably a little extreme and ridiculous I know..  :)  Have any of you experienced something similar before?

Re: Rash

  • I have no experience or advice, but I probably would have reacted the same way you did!

  • Could it be a heat rash? My LO got one when she was outside... not because it was super warm out, but because I had over-bundled her up in jackets and blankets! She had it on the back of her neck, and on her shoulder blades. Small (really small) red spots

  • I suppose it could be a possibility.  He was dressed in sweat/windsuit with a tshirt onsie under the jacket.  He does tend to be on the warmer side, but it is still pretty cool here in South Dakota..but it's certainly a possibility.  We wil
  • My pedi said there have been a lot of viral rashes going around lately in our area. She said if its viral it will usually clear in about 4 days. I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as he doesn't seem bothered by it, and since he doesn't have a feve
